Feedstock pre-treatment

Pre-treatment for difficult feedstocks.

Degumming, bleaching, neutralisation, drying and filtration plants for used cooking oil, animal fats, crude vegetable oils and contaminated waste streams — standalone, or as the front end of a biodiesel or HEFA/SAF plant.

Why it matters

Where feedstock flexibility is won or lost

Every downstream process — transesterification, esterification, hydrotreating — has an inlet specification. Waste and low-grade feedstocks rarely meet it. The pre-treatment section is where feedstock flexibility is actually won or lost, and it is the part of the plant most often under-sized.

Configurations

  • Standalone pre-treatment plants supplying a third-party biodiesel or HEFA plant
  • Integrated front ends within an IncBio biodiesel or HEFA/SAF plant
  • Bolt-on pre-treatment added to an existing plant to widen its feedstock range
Unit operations, IncBio-designed
  1. 01
    Degumming

Water, acid or enzymatic; ultrasonic-assisted where justified.

  2. 02
    Neutralisation

    Conventional or ultrasonic-assisted.

  3. 03
    Bleaching

Adsorptive removal of metals, phosphorus and colour bodies.

  4. 04
    Drying and deodorising
  5. 05
    Filtration

Multi-stage, from coarse solids to polishing.

  6. 06
    Fat splitting

Where the downstream route calls for free fatty acids.
